PageRank (PR) is an algorithm used by Google to rank pages in search engine results pages (SERPs). For the record, PageRank was increased operational efficiency named after Larry Page, one of the founders of Google. PageRank is a way to measure the popularity of website pages .

PageRank works by counting the number and quality of links to a page to determine the website’s importance. The underlying assumption is that more important websites are more likely to receive more links from other sites.
